The first round of voting (October 11 - 20) for the 66th Grammy Awards is currently underway. Social media is full of “For Your Consideration” posts & reels from artists and labels to get votes from Academy members.

In the "Best Reggae Album" category, 65 albums were accepted as valid entries and of these, 5 will be determined for the final round voting. The nominations will be announced on November 10th.

In total we were able to find 47 53 “For Your Consideration” graphics for the "Best Reggae Album" category. The complete list has not been officially published in recent years, but the current list has been circulating online for a few days.

It's worth noting that some releases, including major artists, don't appear on the list. This has different reasons. Popcaan's album "Great Is He" wasn't even submitted, WMV reports. The albums by Stephen Marley (Old Soul), Shaggy (In The Mood) and Morgan Heritage (The Homeland) are listed in the category "Best Global Album".

Other albums were submitted and even “For Your Consideration” posts were published, but they didn't make it to the list: Stonebwoy, Micah Shemaiah and Aiesha. We do not know the individual reasons. UPDATE 10/18/2023: Micah Shemaiah's album is listed in the "Album of the Year" category.

The fact that there are only 65 releases in the "Best Reggae Album" category is not a good sign: “Reggae is in danger of losing its own category,” the Jamaica Star reported on October 12, 2023. Last year there were just as few with 67 releases. In comparison, the list 2 years ago had 125 releases. That far more than 65 releases would have been possible is shown by this list of 15 releases that we expected to be part of this list, but which obviously were not submitted or didn't make it for other reasons. These albums and many, many more are listed in the RELEASES section at REGGAEVILLE.com
