The application period for the World Reggae Contest 2016 was closed on May 16th.

“This year we received 81 applications from all around the world. Surprisingly the most came from very distant places, like Jamaica or USA.” – says Piotr “Piter” Kolaj of Positive Music Promotion, the promoter of Ostróda Reggae Festival in Poland. This is where the contest's live final takes place for the second time.

Mirosław Dzięciołowski, the Contest manager, adds: “Now we will verify if all applications meet the contest rules. Then we make this huge work to analize the input carefully and choose our Top 10. It won’t be easy, as the level feels high.”

On May 29th the festival promoters will present 10 best artists and expose them to public voting through a dedicated Facebook application. The fans will chose 5 finalists to perform at the main Red Stage of the Festival on Aug 14th. An International jury at site will decide on a winner. The best band will go for 5 days free recording session in Kingston, Jamaica with world-known producers Stephen Stewart and Sam Clayton.

The final show from Ostróda will be available as live video stream through Reggaeville.com, the exclusive media partner of the Contest.
