Most Streamed Reggae & Dancehall Artists On YouTube 2021

The year 2021 is over and we wanted to find out who had the most streams on YouTube last year. To find the very accurate numbers we had to check the YouTube Music Charts on January 2nd. Only on this single day did the 12-months-statistics display the period from January 1st to December 31st. We did this in great detail and took into account around 150 artists charts in order to be able to present the exact figures and compile some TOP lists for you:

  • WORLDWIDE: MOST STREAMED ARTISTS [read the news below]

The usability of the YouTube Music Charts page is not perfect. The only available time periods are set by default to 7, 28, 90 (days) and 12 months. It's possible to filter by cities and countries and also search for artists, which are listed in their database, but not all artists can be selected from the start and we had to navigate heavily to find additional artist links. Some were nowhere to be found, such as Hempress Sativa, The Wailers, Jo Mersa Marley, Don Carlos, UB40 feat. Ali Campbell...

Even if we are publishing these figures for the first time this year, we have been observing the YouTube Music Charts for the past years and can therefore mention the change from the previous year for numerous artists.

All the numbers that we have compiled are taken from the official YouTube Music Charts, but we cannot guarantee that they are 100% correct. During our research we found a few inconsistencies. Here are two examples:

The chart of the Reggae singer Luciano contains uploads of the German rapper Luciano.
Christopher Martin's chart displays 29.8 million plays, but his cover version of Passenger's song Let Her Go, which had 6 million plays in 2021 alone on the Reggaeville Youtube channel, is not taken into account.

Please note, that the list does not claim to be complete.

How is YouTube Charts calculated?
The YouTube Charts break down the most viewed music on YouTube by song, video, and artist score. Paid advertising views on YouTube don’t count towards YouTube Charts.

Top Songs ranks the overall performance of a song on YouTube by view count.
It’s calculated by combining each official version of a song including:

  • The official music video
  • User generated content that uses the official song
  • Lyric videos
  • An artist’s “total views” are the combined views of songs associated with the artist.
