The Rita Marley Foundation released this news on June 6th:

Studio 1 Destroyed by Fire

On May 22, 2010, Studio 1 was completely destroyed by a terrible fire. The multi-million dollar structure located in the rustic Aburi mountains in Ghana, was owned by Mrs. Rita Marley. The studio also housed several of Bob Marley’s original tapes. Artistes and producers on the African continent eagerly looked forward to utilizing the impressive facility. It was scheduled for grand opening in June 2010. Studio 1 was the only solar operated studio in West Africa.

Mrs. Rita Marley looks forward to rebuilding Studio 1 and would be grateful for whatever contribution you can make towards making that goal a reality.

She never divorce bob marley, so I'm sure he left her well. I agree with bianca about funds. How many kids do he have? every time I read up on him more come the wood work. I thought Damian was the last one.

I really can't believe that she is asking for money. She can rebuild that studio by HERSELF. I agree with the person above. what about Bob's OTHER children? The ones you don't want to claim? He has more than 11 kids who deserve a portion of his royalties.

the LOVE from Bob is something I owe my life to... and the music lives on no matter. perhaps I am out of line to say this but it is what I feel... I cannot believe she is actually suggesting people donate money to HER. if the money is not there to rebuild it so be it.. but asking people to give to her foundation for this ...to me... is a slap in the face. Perhaps some of the multi millions spent to build it would have been better spent on Bob's children and grandchildren... some of whom are on welfare. I ask you ...is she donating to each of them? Does she even know about the ones who go without.. does she try to know? I PRAY blessings to all the family and music .. only respect intended. I pray for if it is rebuilt is done with contributions of LOVE not money.
